Dear Uncle Joe:

Mr. President, while you are not my uncle Joe, we did grow up in the same neighborhood in Scranton. I know Scranton’s values well. Unfortunately, you lost those values many years ago.

You remind me of my old, crazy uncle Timmy. He was an embarrassment to us all. He was a danger on the streets, touching everyone who walked near him. And certainly, we never let him walk down the street to the popcorn vendor with a monkey.

Occasionally, we had to be very direct so he understood the seriousness of what he was doing. Unfortunately, this is one of those times your American family must deliver you a straightforward message – your actions are diminishing the value of American citizenship. Let me explain.

The government you “manage” identifies the benefits of citizenship, specifically: protection from deportation, easier entry and reentry into the U.S., travel without restriction in the states, the right to pay taxes and receive the same tax benefits as other Americans, the right to work for the federal government and receive government subsidies and the right to vote.

Before you assumed “management” of the U.S., these benefits were of great value. They generated patriotism, love of country, and respect for the rule of law. Your management style is so disrespectful to citizens. You treat us as commodities that send money to the government for the horror of watching the nation wither into a chaotic, authoritarian state.

And when you rudely turn your back and walk out of the room when reporters ask you simple questions, you act exactly like my crazy uncle. Worse, turning your back is an insult to us citizens. A good mother in Scranton should have told you it is not polite.

Perhaps your craziest decision is opening the southern border for anyone to freely enter the country. You have inflicted more crime on our cities. You are forcing local governments to care for the illegal, mostly unvaccinated, masses. This drains resources needed for schools, police, and health care. Worse, it is a violation of your oath to defend the country. You may not remember it but you were on television on January 20, 2021 and repeated the oath in front of millions of us. Many Americans thought you understood what you were swearing to?

No one knows why you opened the border; you may truly believe drug cartels; sex traffickers and the slave trade are capitalist enterprises. Please note it is not the type of business activity most parents want in their neighborhoods.

Also, no one understands why you stopped building the southern border wall after we paid for it? Obviously, you like walls since you ordered the American people to build a huge wall around your beach house. I am assuming it is your modesty when swimming nude. Believe me, Uncle Joe, no one will look—we would all be too embarrassed for you.

If one of the benefits of citizenship is the ease of entry and exit from our country, you have made it far easier to enter and exit for illegals than citizens. Almost two million illegal immigrants from 75 countries walked across the southern border into the U.S. this year. None were required to prove they had been vaccinated or tested for Covid-19. At the same time,  citizens, returning from a foreign country could not reenter the U.S. without proof of “a negative COVID-19 test, taken within three (3) calendar days of departure, or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days.”

Another of the mentioned benefits of citizenship is freedom to travel throughout the U.S. While citizens have such a right, it is limited to lawful activity. Citizens committing crimes are arrested, no matter where they are caught.  Illegals, however, under your new order, have many safe areas where they cannot be arrested. These locations include schools, daycare centers, medical facilities, playgrounds for children, social service establishments, churches and demonstrations, and parades. You are giving those coming to the U.S. illegally more protection than given Americans. That doesn’t seem fair, crazy uncle Joe?

And now, you want to give illegals who were separated from their children when detained at the border, $450,000 per person, as damages for the temporary separation. What about our homeless and/or disabled veterans?  Are they less valuable than illegals because they fought to defend the U.S.?

The most ironic passage in one pamphlet is the discussion which notes all citizens have the same tax benefits as other Americans. I do not know many Americans who believe paying taxes and having the same tax deductions as other Americans is a benefit. First of all, most Americans do not have the same tax benefits as the super-wealthy. Few Americans can take advantage of the carried interest tax avoidance scheme for hedge fund managers or the $12 million estate tax exemption or trillions that can escape taxation forever, with a stepped-up basis for capital gains at death. You have such benefits, but very few Scrantonians have those benefits. You should nominate the brochure’s writer for inclusion in Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum. There will be a hefty referral fee for Hunter, and the author will live forever as the dumbest person in the world.

The right to work for the federal government may be the one positive benefit of being a citizen that non-citizens cannot have. It is as close to nirvana as anyone can get. It requires little work, no creativity, and a talent to write what no one can understand. Clean clothes are not required and for the last 18 months, they did not even have to appear in an office. There are 2.8 million of them. Sounds like a lot of jobs to apply for, but openings only happen when a government worker dies or retires. There is a long wait even for citizens.

Fortunately, the illegals know you are trying to get rid of Trump’s Public Charge requirement. If you are successful with your Build Back Better legislation, the illegals will receive free community college, housing, and food subsidies. Since federal subsidies never go away, uncle Joe, the illegals may just get benefits rivaling a federal job without the need to show up for work.

The big benefit of being a citizen is the sacred right to vote. What does the right to vote mean anymore? Hillary Clinton and the entire mainstream news media told us the Russians, with a massive disinformation campaign, elected Donald Trump in 2016. Trump and his 75 million supporters tell us that millions of illegal ballots, fake news, and the suppression of news like the contents of Hunter’s laptop, elected you in 2020.

In the 2000 election, George W. Bush was elected by the U.S. Supreme Court. Every other year, our congressional representatives are elected by a rigged system called gerrymandering. The reelection rates for incumbents range from the low 90% to as high as 98%. Congressional districts are drawn for winners, not losers. Seriously, there was more turnover in the old Soviet Politburo than in Congress.

On its face, having the right to vote is a big deal. It seems to be a distinguishing right for which citizenship is needed. But nothing is more political than voting. Whoever controls the voting process wins. The Democrats are pushing the 800 page, “For the People Act.” If enacted, it would nationalize voting. Whoever controls the DC swamp controls voting in the nation. The bill would require every state to allow voting by mail, mandate online and same-day voter registration. It effectively eliminates voter identification requirements by requiring non-registered “voters” to sign a statement attesting to their identity. The bill would mandate drop-off boxes for mail-in ballots, and allow voters to designate another person to drop off their ballots.

Uncle Joe, the “For the People Act” reminds me of the first time, at age six, I accompanied my uncle Timmy to a Scranton polling place. Afterward, I asked him who would win. He told me the Democrats since they vote early and often so the dead are always well represented.

My message to the illegal immigrants is, do not get discouraged. Uncle Joe will soon have you casting ballots for Democrats. As for my vote, it is becoming less and less valuable.

Former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) supervisor Thomas Kilbride said that “thousands” of civilians have been killed by illegal immigrants since 2003 in a Fox News interview Jan. 5.

“What about the thousands of civilians?” Kilbride said. “Thousands of dead since 2003 … All over the United States by illegal aliens.”

Verdict: Unsubstantiated

Statistics on murders by illegal immigrants are limited. While government data suggests that thousands of illegal immigrants have been convicted of homicide over the span of decades, it’s unclear whether thousands have been killed since 2003.

Fact Check:

“Anybody can Google it. Go ahead, Google ‘illegal aliens murderers,’ or ‘civilians killed by illegal aliens,’” Kilbride told Fox News host Neil Cavuto. “It’s public record.”

President Donald Trump made a similar claim in his address to the nation on border security Jan. 8.

“Over the years, thousands of Americans have been brutally killed by those who illegally entered our country and thousands more lives will be lost if we don’t act right now,” Trump said.

Results from Kilbride’s suggested Google searches included a few lists of citizens killed by illegal aliens and a debunked claim that 63,000 Americans have been killed by illegal immigrants since 9/11. That figure came from an improper reading of a 2011 government report on criminal aliens.

There is no national database of Americans killed by illegal immigrants. State and federal criminal justice systems don’t generally distinguish if those arrested are in the country illegally, or if they entered the country illegally. Many illegal immigrants enter the country legally but overstay visas.

Alex Nowrasteh, senior immigration policy analyst at the pro-immigration Cato Institute, was skeptical that available data could say whether thousands of American citizens had been killed by illegal immigrants since 2003.

“Most murders are committed by people who know their victims – like spouses, neighbors, and friends,” Nowrasteh told The Daily Caller News Foundation in an email. “Thus, a large percentage or even a majority of the victims of illegal immigrant murderers could be other illegal immigrants. That doesn’t make the murder less bad, but it does alter the narrative that ‘illegal immigrants are coming over the border to kill you.’”

Trump and Kilbride’s claims are very vague – neither cited a specific number, and Trump didn’t provide a timeline.

Unlike Nowrasteh, Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), thought that information from a few federal and state agencies validated Kilbride’s claim. CIS favors stricter immigration policies.

Vaughan pointed to data from the Texas Department of Public Safety (TDPS), which does track the immigration status of criminal offenders. Illegal immigrants between June 1, 2011 and Dec. 31, 2018 accounted for 2,945 homicide charges and 1,602 homicide convictions over the course of their entire criminal careers in Texas.

“That of course does not mean that aliens killed 2,944 people,” Vaughan told TheDCNF in an email. “It’s hard to tally the number of victims. Some people kill more than one person but only get convicted once, sometimes more than one person is involved in a murder.”

The Texas figures, however, include many charges and convictions from before 2011. Counting only the charges and convictions that occurred June 2011 to December 2018, illegal immigrants accounted for 624 homicide charges and 301 homicide convictions.

Additionally, homicide charges include manslaughter, which can be an accidental or reckless killing. TDPS was unable to provide statistics dating back to 2003 by time of publication.

Vaughan also mentioned a 2018 Government Accountability Office (GAO) report with data about criminal aliens counted as part of the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP), a grant program intended to help states and localities cover the cost of incarcerating illegal immigrants. GAO estimated that SCAAP criminal aliens who were in state prisons and local jails from fiscal years 2010 through FY 2015 accounted for 27,300 homicide-related offenses.

The GAO data has limitations.

The 27,300 figure counts the number of offenses, not necessarily the number of people incarcerated. One person could have multiple offenses, and those arrested weren’t necessarily prosecuted or convicted for a given offense. Furthermore, the offenses include attempted homicide.

SCAAP criminal aliens include legal immigrants in addition to those who entered the U.S. illegally. In 2010, the immigration status for 58 percent of inmates in the program was “unknown,” according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

In addition, the 27,300 offenses date back to 1964. The report notes that 83 percent of the arrests and transfers by state and local arresting agencies and 92 percent by federal arresting agencies occurred in 2000 or later, but this is for all offenses – drug, theft, assault, etc. – and it’s unclear if these percentages apply to homicide offenses alone.

The report also breaks down the primary offense – defined as the offense with the longest maximum sentence – SCAAP criminal aliens were convicted of in states that utilize the program the most.

For SCAAP criminal aliens incarcerated in California in FY 2015, GAO identified around 5,208 convictions where the primary offense was homicide. That number was roughly 378 in Arizona, 1,449 in Florida, 1,122 in New York and 960 in Texas. However, those figures include convictions prior to 2015 and convictions for attempted homicide. It’s unclear how many of those incarcerated were in the country without documentation.

The White House pointed TheDCNF to data on ICE administrative arrests for immigration violations. In FY 2017 and FY 2018, ICE administrative arrests included immigrants with 742 homicide charges and 3,172 homicide convictions.

These arrests did not necessarily occur in FY 2017 and FY 2018, though. ICE did not arrest the immigrants for homicide – it arrested them for immigration violations. Additionally, the ICE figures count charges rather than the number of immigrants arrested. Those arrested by ICE could have been charged with more than one crime.

Administrative arrests, like the data on criminal aliens in the GAO report, also include documented immigrants who did not enter the country illegally but violated their terms of entry.

Vaughn thought that the distinction between the arrest of legal immigrants versus those who crossed the border illegally is not that important. “If a person with a green card commits murder, that means their green card is subject to revocation and they are subject to deportation,” she told TheDCNF.

Some studies find that areas with high immigrant populations are not associated with higher rates of violent crime, and a Cato study found that that the criminal conviction rate in Texas was higher for U.S. natives than for illegal immigrants. Critics note that most studies do not analyze illegal immigrants in particular and do not cover all types of crime. They also point to data that show a disproportionate number of those convicted or incarcerated for federal crimes were non-citizens.

Nowrasteh said that Trump and Kilbride’s claims are too vague to be helpful. “A range of 2,000 to infinite is about as informative as saying that I weigh somewhere between 10 and 10,000 pounds,” he told TheDCNF in an email.

“It would be impossible to come up with a better estimate without access to all the federal and state criminal justice records,” Vaughan said. “While no one can easily prove the exact number of people killed by illegal aliens, certainly it is in the thousands, even in just the last 10 years.”

Kilbride could not be reached for comment.

The San Francisco public defender’s office launched a new unit Tuesday dedicated to representing illegal immigrants faced with deportation and focused on providing local tax money for cases heard in the city’s federal immigration courts.

The special immigration division, one of only three such programs in the country, consists of three deputy public defenders and a paralegal, reports NBC Bay Area. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee authorized $200,000 in city payroll savings to be used to fund the program through the end of 2017.

Officials expect the unit to handle around 150 clients per year, only 10 percent of the 1,500 detained immigrants that currently have court dates in San Francisco.

Lee, the city Board of Supervisors, and Public Defender Jeff Adachi reached a deal for the new office March, after months of negotiations over whether the public defender’s office should represent detained immigrants and, if so, to what extent.

While San Francisco has already funded nonprofits that provide legal aid to illegal immigrants, the new public defender’s unit will specialize in cases where the defendant is already in detention. Because deportation proceedings are administrative, not criminal, illegal aliens are not automatically entitled to legal representation in immigration courts.

“Mass deportation is against our core values as Americans and San Franciscans,” Adachi said. “Due process still means something in this country and we are not going to let the federal government ship off our friends and neighbors without a fight.”

In an April letter to nine sanctuary jurisdictions, the Department of Justice (DOJ) asked California cities for proof that they are cooperating with immigration enforcement and warned that they risk losing federal grants. The DOJ specifically called out San Francisco for its stance on immigration enforcement.

“Just several weeks ago in California’s Bay Area, after a raid captured 11 MS-13 members on charges including murder, extortion and drug trafficking, city officials seemed more concerned with reassuring illegal immigrants that the raid was unrelated to immigration than with warning other MS-13 members that they were next,” the DOJ said.

An estimated 44,000 illegal immigrants — including around 11,000 from Mexico, 10,000 from China, and 2,000 from the Philippines — live in San Francisco, reports NBC Bay Area.

Sanctuary city advocates are advising local officials across the country to ignore evidence in government databases linking illegal immigrants to vicious criminal gangs or terrorist groups, The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group has learned.

The advice is included in a 72-page step-by-step manual on thwarting federal immigration laws and regulations. The manual was published in March by the New York-based Center for Popular Democracy (CPD), a left-wing tax-exempt political advocacy group.

The “toolkit” in the Protecting Immigrant Communities manual urges city and county officials across the country to adopt CPD’s “model legislation” or similar ordinances designed to weaken federal efforts to enforce the nation’s immigration laws.

Its “model legislation” seeks to protect illegal immigrants who are linked to gang activity or ties to terrorism, saying “the (proposed) ordinance should not exclude people with criminal convictions, or people who appear in law enforcement databases that attempt to track gang activity and terrorism.”

The handbook was compiled in response to President Donald Trump’s announcement of tough enforcement policies on illegal immigrants, which require local governments to obey the law or face the loss of federal funding.

“In the face of these threats, a large and growing movement of advocates, organizers and local governments are developing strategies to support their immigrant communities,” the manual declares.

The CPD is a non-profit first started by unions, including the AFL-CIO. In 2014, the last year financial data is available, the group attracted $11 million in contributions. Fifteen organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union and the immigrant-rights group CASA, contributed to the manual, and Democrat Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, a former Maryland lieutenant governor, once served as CPD chairman.

The manual provides specific legal language to undermine federal laws, with particular emphasis urging local governments to stop using data from the FBI’s National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and to bar any arrests based on NCIC data.

“In order to protect immigrant communities from unlawful arrests … localities should consider including language prohibiting NCIC arrests in their sanctuary legislation,” the manual recommends.

It assails the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, especially agents assigned to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CPB), agencies on the front-line of Trump’s initiative. It seeks to bar or limit ICE agents from local jails and to end of local government contractual agreements with ICE for the use of local prisons.

“Local governments can significantly limit ICE’s ability to use the criminal justice system for deportation by simply denying ICE access to jail facilities and to individuals incarcerated locally for violations of criminal law,” the guide states.

Neither the CPD nor Townsend responded to multiple request for comment from TheDCNF.

But Ian Prior, a Department of Justice spokesman, told TheDCNF failure to deport criminals living among immigrant communities puts the nation at risk.

“As the Attorney General has said, when cities and states refuse to help enforce immigration laws, our nation is less safe. Failure to deport aliens who are convicted for criminal offenses puts whole communities at risk – especially immigrant communities in the very sanctuary jurisdictions that seek to protect the perpetrators,” Prior said.

GOP Wisconsin Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, chairman of the House Judiciary subcommittee on immigration, echoed a similar theme in a statement to TheDCNF..

“Special interest groups that encourage enforcement officials to ignore the law and look the other way in order to harbor illegal aliens – particularly those who have committed crimes against the United States or its citizens – undermine the authority of Congress and threaten the safety and prosperity of our entire nation,” the Wisconsin Republican said.

“The time is long overdue to ensure that our immigration laws are enforced and that the rule of law is restored,” Sensenbrenner added. “This cannot stand, and I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress and President Trump to solve this serious problem.”

Robert Law, government relations director of the Federation of American Immigration Reform (FAIR), said people can’t pick and choose which laws to enforce.

“This is basically a manual for how to violate federal law and cherry pick which laws you enforce,” he told TheDCNF.

An executive order signed by Trump imposes financial penalties for cities or counties that don’t cooperate with ICE requests for information on local illegal immigrants.

An immigration statute invoked by Trump prohibits local and state governments from enacting laws that limit communication with ICE or CPB about “information regarding the immigration or citizenship status” of individuals.

The CPD manual, however, points to a loophole to get around the prohibition. Officials are encouraged to not collect data on local immigrant communities because the law “does not require local governments to take any affirmative steps to gather information about immigration status, policies that prohibit the gathering of such information do not violate federal law.  Local governments should take advantage of that fact in developing policies on data collection.”

The manual also encourages city and county officials to bar ICE agents from entering local jails.

While often overlooked, policies restricting access to jails and to persons in local custody can create a powerful disruption in one of ICE’s most expansive deportation programs. In most jurisdictions, keeping ICE out of the local jails will end up preventing more deportations than all of the other sanctuary policy provisions combined,” the manual states.

The guide further urges local prosecutors to “deviate” from normal prosecutorial procedures with illegal immigrants to minimize charges they may face.

Prosecutors “may use their discretion to deviate from general practice in deciding whether and how to prosecute, settle or otherwise dispose of any case…related to a defendant’s immigration status,” the manual advises.

FAIR’s Law told TheDCNF that CPD’s focus on criminal behavior among illegal immigrants underlines their “hypocrisy. They continue to perpetuate the myth that illegal immigrants are otherwise law abiding.”

But, Law said, “if that’s true, why would these documents encourage these jurisdictions to not rely on criminal databases? They are basically admitting that these illegal aliens are committing additional crimes in addition to their immigration violations.”

The manual justifies the protection of criminals and potential terrorists because the U.S. criminal justice systems “are themselves oppressive, overly punitive and fraught with racial bias.”

They also claim,“The mere fact that an individual is unlawfully in the U.S. is not a criminal offense.”

Attorney General Jeff Sessions issued a clear warning Thursday to anyone thinking about illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

“When you are caught, you will be detained, adjudicated and deported,” Sessions said at a stop in El Paso, Texas with Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly.

“Do not come unlawfully,” he added. “Wait your turn.”

Sessions and Kelly were in El Paso on a tour of the southern border, which included taking a closer look at border enforcement operations and visiting an immigration court. Sessions called El Paso the the “front lines” and “ground zero” in the fight against illegal immigration, transnational gangs and drug trafficking, Fox News reported.

The attorney general has emerged as the Trump administration’s most strident supporter of stricter enforcement of immigration laws, including deportations of anyone unlawfully present in the U.S.

Sessions issued a directive to the Department of Justice in March that expanded Institutional Hearing Program, a system aimed at expediting the removal of criminal aliens who are inmates in federal prisons. He has also publicly backed President Donald Trump’s executive order expanding the categories of illegal immigrants that could be targeted for deportation. (RELATED: Sessions Moves To Quickly Deport Imprisoned Immigrants)

“Everybody in the country illegally is subject to being deported, so people come here and they stay here a few years and somehow they think they are not subject to being deported — well, they are,” he said Thursday on Fox News’ “Happening Now.”

During the El Paso visit, Sessions reaffirmed his commitment to dedicating more Justice Department resources to illegal immigration cases. He said DOJ will hire 50 immigration judges this year and 75 in 2018 to help reduce the backlog of cases that often take years to wind through the system.

Sessions has also assigned a border security coordinator to each U.S. attorney’s office to oversee the prosecution of immigration crimes, which are now a higher priority for DOJ lawyers. In a memo issued Tuesday to U.S. attorneys nationwide, Sessions instructed prosecutors to prioritize cases against illegal aliens who have re-entered the U.S. after prior deportation, which is a federal felony.

Sessions said the misdemeanor crime of unlawful entry will now be prosecuted as a felony if a suspect attempts to enter the U.S. a second time and aggravating circumstances such as gang ties are present.

President Donald Trump’s deportation policies could drive the price of milk up to $8 dollars a gallon, according to a Milk industry expert.

Around 80 percent of milk produced in America comes from dairies that use foreign labor, and if those workers leave, the U.S. will see significant milk shortages, Jaime Castaneda, senior vice president at the National Milk Producers Federation, told a panel Wednesday, according to the Hagstrom Report.

Casteneda said “if there were an attempt to remove workers you would have a significant shortage of milk and high prices,” as high as $8 dollars a gallon.

The dairy industry has “very high expectations” that Congress can address foreign labor issues, but not any time soon. “We see what happened with the health insurance fiasco,” Castaneda said, referring to Congress’s failure to pass the American Health Care Act to replace Obamacare. “The probability of having something else pass is diminished.”

The Department of Homeland Security has plans to create a large “deportation force” to prepare for an increase in detention and deportation of illegal immigrants. (RELATED: Homeland Security Drafts Plan To Ramp Up Deportation Force)

If the price of milk rises, milk from Mexico where labor is cheaper and workers have fewer rights might push the U.S. out of business.

Dairy farmers “are convinced most Americans do not want to do the kinds of jobs that they have available on their farms,” Thomas Maloney, agriculture labor expert at Cornell University told NPR in February.

Milk producers struggled last year when milk prices dropped considerably, but production increased.

Independent journalist Shaun King recently took to social media to share the following:

The document featured, allegedly the order itself, can be accessed HERE.

Unfortunately for King, this was not quite the smoking gun he was hoping for, as USA Today has since clarified that this was simply a suggestion placed in a memo and not an outright order for such a thing to actually be done.

As of now, the White House has still not ben caught in any lies regarding the claim that an immigrant roundup is in fact not happening. However, the mere existence of the memo, which indicates it was at least once a possibility laid on the table, is still disconcerting.

TLR will update its readers if any more information comes to light.

The White House disputed an Associated Press report Friday that President Donald Trump is considering sending the National Guard to round up illegal immigrants.

“This is not true,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer tweeted, within minutes of the AP report.

The AP claims to have obtained an 11-page draft memo outlining the potential plan, which would involve sending the troops nationwide to round up and deport illegal immigrants. The Jan. 25 document calls for the “unprecedented militarization” of immigration enforcement, the AP states, and is addressed to the heads of immigration enforcement.

Neither the White House nor the Department of Homeland Security responded to requests for comment, according to the AP, although multiple officials in the White House quickly denied the report once it was published.

Johnson and Wallace Battle Over Fair Tax, ISIS, and Pot

By: Elias J. Atienza

Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson was on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace where he laid out his beliefs and his plans to win the presidency. Johnson is currently polling around 10 percent in the five national polls chosen by the Commission on Presidential Debates.

“We’re optimistic we’re going to actually get into the debates,” Johnson said. “We’re spending money right now in many states, and in five states right now we’re at 16 percent. So I’m just really optimistic.”

The Commission on Presidential Debates has advised venues holding the presidential debates to prepare a third podium.

In addition this, Johnson laid out that he could win the entire presidency, though a third party candidate has never won the presidency since 1864 with Abe Lincoln.

“The object is to win outright,” Johnson said.

Johnson also laid out his support for various issues. He stated that he still supported TPP and wanted to make immigration easier by giving out more work visas and giving them a social security card.

On immigration, Johnson also endorsed a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.

On regards to citizenship, there needs to be a pathway to citizenship,” Johnson said. “Look, for those in the country that are undocumented, they’re not going to jump the line. But that’s part of comprehensive immigration reform.”

Clinton also endorses a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants while Donald Trump has flip-flopped in the past week, first supporting a form of amnesty before slamming his own position yesterday.

Johnson and Wallace got into an intense exchange over Johnson’s support for the Fair Tax, which would eliminate the federal income tax and corporate tax and replace all of this with a federal consumption tax.

“Both sides of the aisle said that this would be highly regressive. That rich folk are going to make out like bandits and its going to end up hitting the poor and the middle class,” Wallace challenged.

“You’re right that the Fair Tax is regressive. The way the Fair Tax deals with that is that it issues everyone a prebate check of $200 a month that allows everybody to pay the consumption tax up to the point of poverty level,” Johnson said.

Johnson pointed out that the Fair Tax had many supporters in Congress. H.R 25, which would replace all federal taxes with a single consumption tax, has 73 supporters in the House of Representatives. In addition, 7 Senators support the measure according to Fair Tax Review.

Wallace asked Johnson about ISIS and what his plan is to deal with them. Johnson said that they would be regionally contained and they were like “sands through an hourglass.” When Wallace talked about the terrorist attacks in San Bernardino and Belgium, Johnson pointed out that they were ISIS-inspired attacks and not done by ISIS themselves.

This lead to another testy exchange between Johnson and Wallace.

Johnson said:

“If we’re attacked, we’re going to attack back. But the fact that we involve ourselves in regime change has resulted in unintended consequences of making things worse and not better, and nobody is standing up to this!Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, not intentional, they go in and support the opposition in Libya and Syria. The opposition is aligned with ISIS. We arm the opposition and now those arms end up in the hands of ISIS. This is the unintended consequences of our foreign policy.”

Pivoting back to ISIS, Wallace asked why Johnson would contain ISIS and not eradicate them. Johnson said that if they eliminated ISIS there would be another “void” that another group would fill.

“We didn’t hear about ISIS until two years ago. This was Al-Qaeda until it became ISIS! Wipe out ISIS and it will be something else.” Johnson said.

Johnson laid out that he wants to “join hand with Russia” to deal with the Syrian Civil War while also maintaining that North Korea was the United States biggest challenge in the future.

Wallace then ended the interview by asking about cannabis and Johnson’s tenure as CEO of Cannabis Sativa. Wallace criticized Johnson for that, asking why “out of all the things in the world to be involved with, why sell pot?”

“In this case, marijuana products, which directly compete with legal prescription drugs on the medical front, don’t kill anybody. Not one documented death and yet these drugs compete and provide that relief. It seems to me that there needs to be research and development in this area, that can’t happen, because marijuana is currently classed as a class one narcotic,” Johnson said.

If he is elected president he would deschedule marijuana but would ultimately leave the issue of legalization up to the states. Johnson also said that he believes legalizing marijuana would lead to less substance abuse.

Staffers for Republican nominee Donald Trump told The Associated Press Sunday Trump has no plans to institute massive deportations of illegal immigrants.

“Trump has already said that he will not do massive deportations,” Campaign Latino outreach chair Helen Aguirre Ferre told reporters at a press conference. “He will focus on removing the violent undocumented who have criminal records and live in the country.”

Last fall, Trump appeared to support the idea of massive deportations, “you’re going to have a deportation force, and you’re going to do it humanely.” Trump estimated that the process of deporting all illegal immigrants would take a year and a half to two years.

Republicans eager to gain Latino support point to Trump’s interview with Bloomberg in June as proof that Trump abandoned his immigration stance for one that is much more lenient months ago.

“President Obama has mass deported vast numbers of people — the most ever, and it’s never reported. I think people are going to find that I have not only the best policies, but I will have the biggest heart of anybody,” Trump told Bloomberg.

Trump added he would not call for mass deportations of illegal immigrants, instead he planned to go after criminals who are illegal immigrants. “We are going to get rid of a lot of bad dudes who are here,” Trump said, according to the AP.

Hispanic and religious leaders who met with Trump over the summer told the AP the Republican nominee is interested in a policy that has more emphasis on compassion, in addition to respect for the law.

“He realizes that there are a lot of good people that are in the shadows. He wants some proposals on how to work on that,” Televangelist Frank Amedia told the AP.

Trump’s numbers don’t look good with Latino voters. Hispanic political firm Latino Decisions published a battleground state poll last week in which Trump only earned 24 percent of Latino support, compared to Clinton’s 71 percent, according to The Weekly Standard.

Clinton announced Sunday that her priority is to deport violent criminals and individuals linked to terrorism. “But don’t go rounding up hard working mothers and fathers, taking them out of the factories or the hotels or the homes where they’re working, making them disappear and leaving their children alone,” Clinton added. “That doesn’t make any sense to me.”
